I practiced 3 tracks in 1 session.
Each track is Double Laid with treats and an End Article.
Flora and I met up at Yorktown today. Lotta good spots were close due to the park closing for weather, but we found a good field spot.
Session 1:
Weather: 25F, 37% Humidity, Fair weather, Wind VAR 7mph.
Located at a field in Yorktown.
Track One - End article, Double Laid Track 2:53pm
Aged 20 Minutes (I realize I have forgotten to write down times in recent blogs. the time tracks are aged is based off of time it takes for me to lay/partner runs their tracks)
80 yd on short grasses.
Treats spaced every 6 Steps.
.Track One - End article, Double Laid Track 3:44pm
Aged 15 Minutes
90 yd on short grasses.
Treats spaced every 6 Steps.
Track One - End article, Double Laid Track 4:06pm
Aged 7 Minutes
100 yd on short grasses.
Treats spaced every 6 Steps.
GOAL FOR THE TRACK:
To lengthen the spacing for food drops. (See Week 9 Class Blog for Homework notes)
How did it feel?
Great! The second track took a while for her to get into it, but I believe she was trying to scent after where our buddy, Finwe, completed a track that the wind was blowing back towards her little Terv nose. (Also watching it again, I recognize a few of the 'I have to poop' indicators of spinning and nipping her lead. She did go poop after finishing her 3rd track.)
List three things the dog did well:
Enthusiastic to track despite various distractions of other visitors/dogs/wildlife.
Relatively straight tracking
Continuing to get better about realizing an End Article is in place to find.
List things you’d like to improve:
Continue working on nice focused walk ups.
Bettering my consistency in timing of rewards given at the end. Sometimes I am too slow.
Goal for next track:
Continue lengthening our tracks.
Continue stretching the food drops along the tracks.
Play article games in more public settings.
look at her pulling you to the start flag!!! extend the food to 8. no article at start is correct. let's not stop her enthusiasm at the start flag. LOVED the indication and play at the end of the second track - so dang good!!! extend the food to 8 and throw in an open angle turn if you have time before class. if not, don't sweat it. she is doing great!
