Got a lot of clarification and correcting my mistakes with getting my little Wren understanding end articles.

Track Layer General Homework

Quarter Game: Lay a track with notebook to map, practice double lineups, back line ups, and stride consistency. Place a Quarter on the ground and leave the track. Go practice Wren's tracks before returning to the Quarter Track. Try to follow my own track map to find my Quarter for building consistency and accuracy when track laying for others.

Wren's Article Homework

  • Practice with 'Dead' Articles, not just teaching her to play with moving ones. STOP making it about engagement. This is Not Obedience. DO NOT let her see me drop the article.

  • Leave article in house/outside and then allow Wren into the area to find it. It is the BIGGEST PUPPY PARTY EVER when she finds it. I want her to immediately zone in on the article. Pouncing, grabbing, etc. Goal is recognizing an article as rewarding does not need to be perfect end result of picking up and giving it to me yet.

  • Reward for engagement with dead article. Remember my Recall games with small puppy Wren. Back peddling and quick rewards for explosive motion.

  • Quiet teasing with words, not motion of article.

  • Do not use 'Good' marker word, which for Wren means 'continue that behavior' Use only her end task/come to receive reward 'yes' marker.

    • The 'duration' section of article indication of bringing me the article can be built later but I need to help Wren understand the article is important in the meantime instead of her skimming over it to track the person back off the track.

Tracking Homework

  • Ping pong the yards from 60yd, 70yd, 80yd, 90yd, 100yd at one Food increment, the drop back down to 60yd, etc building back up to 100yd with the food spaced further and further.

    • Food every 4 steps, then 6 steps, 8 steps, etc.

  • Measure food drops in Steps not inches/feet measurements anymore.

  • NO FOOD ON THE END ARTICLE.

Wren was Extra Excited after spending 10 hours driving back up to Virginia from Georgia yesterday.
